Division 3 - Light Horse Show

Stabling available. Priority will go to out-of-town participants.
$15 refundable cleaning deposit; $10/day.
Must be paid in advance. Shavings provided.
 
Rules & Regulations:
Please see http://hcbc.ca/competitions/hcbc-rule-book/ for class descriptions as well the following General Rules:
 
1. All light horse Exhibitors must be a current Horse Council BC Member.  Any competitor who does not present proof of HCBC will be denied participation.
2. Refund Policy: No refunds for entry fees without a signed veterinarian or doctor's certificate. Exceptions will be made for horses recognized as visibly unsound or ill by the show managers. Stall refunds will be made on the condition of the Refund Policy if the stall has not been used. Refunds will be mailed out after the event.
3. The Nechako Valley Exhibition will not be held responsible for any loss, damage, or injury to persons, animals, or equipment during the show.
4. All youth 18 and under riding on the Grounds must wear an ASTM approved safety helmet with a permanently affixed harness.
5. All competitors are encouraged to wear protective head gear at all times.
6. All dogs must be kept on leashes at all times.
7.No smoking is permitted in the barn areas.
8. Please be patient and courteous with Light Horse Division helpers - we are all volunteers!
9. Riding is prohibited on the Fair Grounds except for in designated show areas.
10. All Exhibitors must read and comply with the "Notice to Exhibitors".
 
Classes by age groups:
1. Jr. 13 & Over
2. Jr. 12 & Under
3. Sr. 18 & Older
 
Qualifications:
1. Age of riders and horses is as of January 1, 2026
2. Entre feeds and pass fees must accompany entry forms
3. Stallions must not be shown by a junior
4. Any abuse of horses will lead to automatic elimination
5. All entries are shown at the risk of the owner and management will not be responsible for any loss or damage
6. EXHIBITORS are responsible for having all entries in the holding ring before each class. Those not ready when called will not be allowed in the ring before each class. Those not ready when called will not be allowed in the ring to compete.
7. Management reserves the right to combine or cancel any class where there are insufficient entries
8. STABLING: There are a limited number of stalls. They will be allotted to out-of-town exhibitors first
9. There will be a $15 non-refundable jump fee charged for Hunter and Jumper classes
10. Entry fees are $10 per class. Exceptions: no fee for Halter Championship and Lead line

Western Equitation

23. Lead Line Equitation - riders 6 yrs and under. To be shown in appropriate English or Western attire. Horse to be led by a responsible person. Rider is judged on ability.

27. Beginner Rider or horse - Walk & Trot only - no cross entries with other English Pleasure classes
 
Road Hack
28. Road Hack Open - all ages - class may be divided if numbers warrant it
 
Driving

Fun Class
32. Bareback Equitation - OPEN - Judged on hands, seat, and manners. Can be ridden with English or Western bridle. No chaps or suede bottom English breeches.
33. Command Class - OPEN - Halt, Walk, Jog/Trot, Lope/Canter, on Judges command. Rider eliminated if she/he does not perform on command. 
34. Ride a Buck - OPEN - $5.00 bill - no entry fee - rider provides a $5.00 bill. Riders will be bareback, last rider with his/her bill wins all of the bills. No chaps or suede bottom breeches.
 
Hunter Seat Equitation
35. Jr. Under 18 - fences to 2'6" tider. Judged on seat and style over fences
36. Sr. 18 & Over - fences to 2'6"
37. Low Hunter Open - fences to 2'6"
38. Handy Hunter Open - fences 2'6" to 2'9"
39. Working Hunter Open - fences 2'9" to 3'
 
Jumper
40. Baby Jumper - riders 12 & Under - Jumps to 2'
41. Mini Jumper - riders 12 & Under - Jumps to 2'3"
42. 1st Year Jumper - Jumps to 2'6"

EXTREME TRAIL COMPETITION

Sunday AUGUST 9TH, 2026
9AM - 12PM INDOOR ARENA
A fun obstacle course for you and your equine partner to navigate, the perfect competition to demonstrate your horsemanship skills! This event is timed, and points are awarded at each obstacle.
